One of my mother's first cousins in Tallahassee, W. Stanley ("Sandy") Proctor, is a very talented professional artist and sculptor. Among the many fine pieces of art that he has produced is a sculpture entitled "Poppies," of a WWII veteran. The man who sat as the model for the sculpture was another of my mother's first cousins in Tallahassee, Julian Proctor.
Several copies
of Poppies are installed in various locations around the nation. The original is near Dallas, in Farmers Branch, Texas,
in a park known as Liberty Plaza. My wife Forough and I visited there in November 2015 and took some pictures, shown
here:
